THE BLACK MAILBOX

As Team H headed back towards Las Vegas after our stay at The Clown Motel in Tonopah, we made sure we headed down the Extraterrestrial Highway! Near the border of Nellis Air Force Range (AKA Area 51) where the NV-375 highway heads through Tikaboo Valley, it meets Mail Box Road and the spot of the mysterious Black Mailbox.
The original mailbox that was situated here was owned by Steve Medlin who lived on a cattle ranch in the Tikaboo Valley. But, after former Area 51 employee Bob Lazar brought people to the spot to see scheduled flights of UFOs that had been reverse-engineered by the U.S. government, the area became a popular meeting place for extraterrestrial enthusiasts. Suffice to say, Steve had to move his mailbox off the highway due to years of theft and vandalism and closer to his ranch. It was soon replaced by the mysterious, and now famous, Black Mailbox.
Over the years, some have come just to look at the postal box; others have camped near it for days in the hopes of spotting alien life, and many leave gifts or letters inside, in the hopes that otherworldly visitors will accept them. Team H were no exception to this as we both left a letter of our own.
