The Haunting is an introductory Call of Cthulhu scenario which has been included with the game since the beginning and it is said that it has been played by more people than any other scenario. It has appeared in most versions of the game since the earliest editions when it was called The Haunted House. One of the exceptions is D20 Call of Cthulhu.

Sheafe Street, which is in the North End of Boston, was used as the location of Walter Corbitt's house which resided among newly built office buildings. The street is in the infamous area where Lovecraft's story, Pickman's Model is based and is only a block away from Copp's Hill Burying Ground.
The brick bungalow is overshadowed by taller, newer office buildings to either side. The house fronts the street. In the rear are overgrown plantings and a half collapsed arbour.
